Mushroom Cottage Jar Lantern

Service Description

We'll make this magical little lantern jar from scratch, using a baby food jar and polymer clay, and an LED flickering candle. It's designed to be fully functional, so you can take the lid on and off to replace batteries in the candle. The emphasis will be on using our imaginations and our hands to create textures and shapes, rather than relying on shaped cutters or pattern makers. We'll roll out the base colour in a pasta machine, and everything else will be created manually using sculpting tools. Templates for shapes will be provided or participants can create their own designs. All materials supplied. Polymer clay will be baked on site during the class for students to take the finished product home with them. Difficulty Level: 7/10 NOTES For participants 10 years and over, but should have good dexterity and be familiar with sculpting tools (but due to the duration of workshop, may be better suited to older teens and adults). Plenty of guidance and one-on-one instruction will be provided but participants need to be good listeners and able to work independently some of the time. Parents/guardians, please use your discretion when booking for a minor. There is a kitchen with a fridge and microwave at the venue. Please bring any food you or your child wishes to consume. We will take a break for lunch around 12:30, and if the weather's good we can even sit in the sunny courtyard out the back. There will be no allowance for minors leaving the premises (for example to go to the takeaway shop) during the workshop, as I can't keep an eye on them.
